Getting a Spectrum TV package is only the first step towards limitless entertainment; however, the second and more important one is finally connecting it to your TV set. It is not as daunting a task as it may seem. You can connect your Spectrum cable box to the TV via two channels: the HDMI cable and the component cables.

What’s included in your kit?

Make sure you look for the following equipment in your kit that comes with your cable subscription:

  1. A standard DVR, HD Set-top box or DVR
  2. An HDMI cable
  3. A Remote Control
  4. 2 Coaxial cables
  5. Composite Cables (Only with a Standard DVR)
  6. Component Cables
  7. A Power Cord
  8. An Easy Connect User Guide

Let’s get started:

  1. A standard DVR, HD Set-top box or DVR
  2. Take the power cord and plug one end to the HD Receiver and the other one to an electrical wall socket.
  3. Now take the Coaxial Cable (the one with a pin on top) and insert one end in the cable socket in the wall and the other end to your HDMI device.

Now determine how you want to connect your cable box to your TV, there are several options such as HDMI, or component cables. We recommend using an HDMI cable to get the best viewing experience on your Spectrum TV.

Using an HDMI Cable

  1. Take the power cord and plug one end to the HD Receiver and the other one to an electrical wall socket.
  2. Now take the Coaxial Cable (the one with a pin on top) and insert its one in the cable socket in the wall and the other end to your HDMI device.
  3. Now take the HDMI Cable and connect one end to the DVR and other to your TV to make your connection look something along these lines.

No HDMI Port:

In case you are unable to locate an HDMI port on your TV then you might want to switch to an alternate method of connection that is using the component cables. They are built to replace HDMI cables in case your TV set lacks a port for it. However, before jumping to conclusions, do check the user’s guide that came with your TV set to see if it has a port, if yes then where.

In case your TV doesn’t have that port then you will have to use the component cable that came in your cable box package.

  1. All you need to do is connect the cables, one end to the HDTV receiver and the other to your TV set.
  2. Make sure you match the colors of cables with those of input ports for optimal installation.

Once done with the connections, switch on your TV and look for buttons like Input, AUX, Source, Component, or Video Source on your TV remote.

Now choose the source. You should be looking for any of the following options:

  1. HDMI 1
  2. HDMI 2
  3. Video 1 and 2
  4. Component 1 and 2
  5. Cable Box or DVD
