Being an internet user in 2026 and still worrying about data caps? Nuh-uh! Subscribe to an internet plan that offers unlimited data allowance, also known as zero or no data cap, to stream, game, and browse without limits.

Let’s take a closer look at the best internet providers with and without data caps:

ISPs Offering Unlimited Data

Many providers bring internet deals that flaunt affordability, along with speed and unlimited data.

Do You Need Unlimited Data?

Also known as a data limit or data allowance, an internet data cap is the monthly data limit imposed on your internet usage by the ISP. Most internet users might work well with ≥ 1 TB (~1000GB) data caps, but would you? To assess your data situation, let’s first find out which online activities take up the most data.

40 MB Send/receive ~100 emails
90 MB One hour of social media scrolling (no engagement)
180 MB One hour of FaceTime
1 GB 14 hours of music streaming on Spotify
5 GB 10 hours of HD video streaming on YouTube
15 GB 5 hours of HD video streaming on Netflix

Unlimited data allowance, sure, helps when you are a keen video streamer, online gamer, or even a remote worker. That being said, there is a stereotype of being pricey attached to no data cap plans – which, by the way, is not always the case.

Internet Data – How Much Do You Require?

As always said, the data that you require strictly depends on how you plan on consuming it.

If all you want to do with the internet is emailing, browsing, and occasional video streaming, you might do fine with minimal data allowance.

But in other cases, you would need more data than just that.

Internet Providers with Data Caps

Below is a list of some of the major providers and an overview of their monthly internet data caps and overage charges.

ISP Connection Type Monthly Data Cap Overage Charges Subscribe
Cox Cable 1.25 TB $10 per 50 GB Order Now
Xfinity Cable 1.2 TB – Unlimited $10 per 50 GB Order Now
Mediacom Cable Up to 3 TB $10 per 50 GB Order Now
Hughesnet Satellite 15 GB to 200 GB None Order Now

With a data cap of 1.2 TB, Xfinity provides enough data allowance for all your mundane online activities. Obviously, if you go over this data limit, your monthly internet bill will have an excess of $10 for every 50 GB you go above this limit. If you are aware of your internet usage and are prone to exceeding the data limit, a better option would be to opt for Xfinity’s Unlimited Data plans.

Cox imposes a 1.25 TB data cap on all of its internet plans. However, once you exceed this 1.25 TB limit, you will be charged $10 per 50 GB that goes beyond the data limit. An option that intensive users might be more inclined towards is adding the Unlimited Additional Data Plan.

Mediacom is fairly liberal with its data caps and serves you with up to 3 TB of data with its internet plans.

Does a 1TB Data Limit Work Fine for You?

A lot of people might work fine with a data limit of 1TB (~1000GB), but can you? We have compiled a list of how many online activities we can take up with 1TB of data:

1 TB Data

40,000 emails (send/receive)

8,500 hours of music streaming

2,000 hours of internet surfing

5,600 hours of social media posting, including pictures

150 hours of 4K video streaming

1,650 hours of online gaming

You may rarely come across an internet provider that offers a data limit of less than 1 TB, so it does make sense to subscribe to a plan offering a data limit.

The Final Word – What Do We Think?

If we have to choose an internet plan based on only one merit: data cap, we will always advocate for one that offers unlimited data allowance. However, if we were to consider the merits of flexible data caps, the side that comes with better internet speeds, better pricing, and availability wins!
