When you order Spectrum Internet, you can either choose professional or self-installation. Spectrum charges $65 (one-time charge) for professional installation, whereas the standard self-install costs $30 (one-time charge).

The self-install kit from Spectrum allows you to install Spectrum Internet yourself easily. This blog will share the steps on how you can install your Spectrum Internet using the self-install kit. Let’s get into it.

Spectrum Internet Self-Installation

You can have the self-installation mailed to you or pick it up from the closest Spectrum store. The kit typically includes:

  • Instructions manual
  • Spectrum modem
  • Modem power cord
  • 2 coaxial cables
  • Coax splitter
  • Ethernet cable

Make sure none of these items is missing since you’ll need them to install your connection. Once verified, follow the steps below:

1- Install the Modem

The first step is to install the Spectrum-provided internet modem. To do this:

  • Connect one end of the coax cable to a cable outlet
  • Connect the other end of the coax cable to the modem
  • Connect the power cable to the modem and the adapter to the power outlet
  • Wait for the modem to connect to the network
    • The ‘Online Status Light’ on the front of the modem will become solid, indicating that it has connected to the network. This usually takes 2-5 minutes.

2- Connecting the Modem to the Computer or Wi-Fi Router

Once you’ve set up your modem, the next step involves connecting it to your computer or Wi-Fi router.

3- Activating the Modem Online

Once you’ve connected your modem to your computer or your Wi-Fi, here’s how you can activate its services:

  • Visit net/selfinstall on your web browser to follow the steps for activation

Or

  • Download the My Spectrum App to activate the services through the mobile app. You can also manage your account and equipment through the app.

Note: After subscribing to Spectrum Internet, the provider will automatically activate the service once you’re connected to the network. Reach out to Spectrum customer service for assistance regarding activation in case you face an issue.
