Check AvailabilityVerizon Fios Internet plans come with a range of fast fiber speeds that are ideal for heavy internet users or large homes. If available in your area, Verizon Fios can be a great option for these reasons:
Find out Verizon's availability at your location and explore all the available fiber internet plans.
Fios (Fiber Optic Service) is a 100% fiber-optic network that uses light pulses to deliver reliable, nearly symmetrical speeds, ideal for heavy internet usage or activities requiring faster uploads (video calling, gaming, etc.).
In contrast, cable internet uses coaxial cables, the same type used for cable TV, to transmit data. And while it offers fast downloads, it typically has lower upload speeds and higher latency compared to fiber-optic connections. Here’s a brief comparison of both connection types:
Based on comparison of Fios 1 Gig plan wired upload speeds of 880 Mbps to median of comparable advertised plan speeds of Xfinity, Optimum, and Spectrum as of 3.14.25.
Verizon offers two fiber installation options: Professional installation and self-installation. The professional installation costs $99; however, you can get it waived for select plans and locations.
Professional installation requires making an appointment with a technician who’ll visit your home to install your equipment and help optimize your connection. This process can take between 4 to 6 hours and requires you or anyone above the age of 18 to be present at home for the visit.
Self-installation is more convenient for those who may not be available for an appointment. You can get the equipment mailed to you by the Verizon support staff, or choose to pick it up yourself from a nearby Fios location.
Verizon Fios is available in 9 states across the country. You can enter your zip code in our availability tool to check if it is available near you.
Verizon Whole-Home Wi-Fi includes a Wi-Fi extender that helps signals reach every corner of your home and eliminate any dead zones. The Whole-Home Wi-Fi also comes with a Wi-Fi Health Check service that helps you optimize your home internet connection. Included with select Verizon plans.
Yes, Verizon offers you a contract buy-out of up to a $500 credit if you plan to switch to their service. It can help pay off your early termination fee and smoothly switch your internet provider5.
Verizon 5G home internet is a fixed wireless home internet service that offers a reliable connection to users in areas where Fios may not be available.
